ULTRASONIC sensors are used in industry and process automation for measurement of distance, level and proximity.
Available from SICK , they detect also under harsh environmental conditions and independent of the target material properties. They are maintenance free and have a long service life, even in permanent operation.
Ultrasonic sensors for large distances were so far built into rather large housings. The new UPK sensors of SNT Sensortechnik AG have a uniquely short overall length of only 38mm. This has been realised with miniaturised electronics.
Furthermore the SONARANGE transducers, which work with high electrical voltages, have been strongly improved. Thus, small, moved and baldly reflecting objects can be detected reliably, and the sensors work also under strong contamination.
Compared with other products they radiate substantially more sound energy. Thus they can be operated at higher frequencies, which makes them less susceptible to parasitic noise and in addition reduces the size of the transducer.
Compared with a conventional product the volume of the sensor could be reduced by an impressive 47%, at a higher performance.
The UPK family covers the large distance range, from 80mm to more than six metres, with four types. Versions with analogue as well as binary outputs are available.
All sensors of SNT Sensortechnik AG are 100% waterproof according to IP67.
