A NEWLY developed protective housing from SICK made of PMMA acrylic glass with V4A stainless steel end caps now also allows the safeguarding of hazardous points of operation with C2000, M2000 and C4000 Micro Safety Light Grids under extreme environmental conditions.
The housing materials are resistant to many standard cleaning processes and detergents. An integrated PreVent membrane made of Goretex ensures permanent condensation-free operation. It prevents the build-up of condensation inside the housings and the ingress of dampness.
The new housings can be used for systems in Type 2 or Type 4 safety categories according to IEC 61496. Depending on the device, protective field heights of between 150mm and 1200mm can be achieved with almost unchanged ranges. The cable inlet employs industrially proven PG-screw technology.
In numerous industrial branches, such as food processing, harsh operating conditions make great demands on electronic devices. The new protective housing now effectively protects the integrated safety sensors against temperature fluctuations and cleaning with steam or detergents.
The materials used are proof against many standard cleaning processes. The housing is compact so that no inaccessible niches can form.
Condensation formation inside the housing, that could lead to misting up of the Plexiglas from within, is prevented by a PreVent membrane made of Goretex integrated within the end cap.
The new IP67 safety technology has already proved its efficacy on a cheese and meat processing machine.
