THE new L 4000 safety photoelectric switch system in M18/M30 cylinder housings from SICK offers Category 4 safety, range variants of 0 to 10m and 0 to 60m, integrated functions, and connection of up to eight sensor pairs.
It consists of the UE 401 safety evaluation unit (enclosure rating IP20) to which up to four individual sensor pairs, i.e. transmitter/receiver combinations, or up to eight cascaded sensor pairs, can be connected.
An enclosure rating of IP67 and an expanded temperature range of -20°C to +55°C allows the safeguarding of machines and plant even under extreme environmental conditions.
The L 4000 system is a Type 4 non-contact safety device according to IEC 61 496. It is used for safeguarding hazardous areas and access to machines and plant.
For the first time, safety photoelectric switch optics and signal pre-processing has been accommodated in M18 and M30 cylindrical housings, thus ensuring simple mounting and alignment of the transmitter and receiver.
During operation, the UE 401 safety evaluation device monitors the safe functioning of the sensor. The system generates a cut-off signal if the light path is interrupted.
The system not only offers safety in the highest category, but also user comfort and supplementary integrated functions such as external contact monitoring and restart interlock.
Colour LEDs provide in-situ information on the operating state. Rapid diagnosis is possible as a result of the visualisation of status and error messages on the 7-segment display of the UE 401 safety evaluation device.
The possibility of connecting four individual or eight cascaded sensor pairs, the needs-based range options, suitability for outdoor applications, and the use of corner mirrors, allow even complex safeguarding tasks to be solved.
