Early detection is an important factor in perimeter protection. SICK’s 2D laser measurement sensors can monitor horizontal surfaces such as yards, access roads or roofs as well as vertical planes including walls, fences or façades.
The LMS53x meets the requirements of Environmental Class IV of EN 50131 (VDE0830), in accordance with the test methods of EN 50130-5, i.e. the device can be installed for two dimensional monitoring of an exterior perimeter fully exposed to weather. However, it is also suited for monitoring tasks in interior areas having harsh ambient conditions.
Modular system structure, high-performance optics
The 2D laser measurement sensors consist of three components: the sensor head with the sender receiver optics and data evaluation, a plug-in security application module featuring specific, individually adjustable settings and parameterisation, as well as an integrated parameter memory.
These components permit simple and quick connection or replacement of a device. The sensors enable detection of intruders radially at long ranges common for exterior perimeters up to 65m. Even low reflective ‘shady characteristics’ are visible to the scanner up to 40m.
Given appropriate positioning, it is possible for the sensors to reach ranges within the detection diameter of up to 130m or up to 80m at an object reflectance of 10%.
The LMS53x laser measurement sensors can be combined with detection methods such as thermal imaging camera, motion detection video technology, radar, capacitive proximity detectors, ground detection and fence protection systems, as well as electromechanical detector solution for a complete security solution.
