THE new Category 4 C4000 Micro safety curtain is now available from SICK Australia in an IP67 housing.
Thus, non-contact area safeguarding requiring the highest possible safety category complying with IEC 61496 can also be realised wherever process conditions may involve temperature fluctuations, or cleaning with steam or aggressive detergents.
The IP 67 housing, in which the C4000 Micro is integrated, is a protective housing with a PMMA acrylic pipe and V4A stainless steel end caps. It is compactly constructed so that no inaccessible areas of dirt can form.
The housing materials are resistant to all common standard cleaning processes and cleaning materials.
A pressure compensation element (a PreVent Goretex membrane) provides a permanently condensation-free view and prevents the ingress of dampness. The cable inlet is designed with industrially proven PG screw technology.
As a basic version of the C4000, the IP67 housing with its integrated C4000 Micro covers all basic safety requirements for non-contact safeguarding of hazardous areas.
Among other features, it offers resolutions of 14mm or 30mm at ranges of 4m or 4.5m, restart interlock, external device monitoring, protective field heights of between 150 mm and 1200 mm, as well as alignment assistance and comprehensive diagnostic opportunities via its 7-segment indicator.
