SICK has released the ELG 1 short range automation light curtain. It has a range of up to 3m and is suitable for detecting and counting parts, positioning pallets, or detecting objects on overhead conveyors.
It is simple to adjust with no mess of cables between the sensors and the control system. It is an installation-friendly and operationally reliable alternative to light curtains involving several individual sensors. It is available with either 16 light beams and a monitoring height of 150mm or with 11 light beams and a field height of 100mm.
The transmitter and receiver of the through-beam light curtain are accommodated in IP-65 aluminium housings and optically synchronised. There is no need for a synchronisation cable. A detection field with beam separations of 10mm is generated between the transmitter and receiver. It is also possible to detect flat objects with crossbeam evaluation. The light curtain's pin assignment is compatible with photoelectric switches. It provides rapid and simple implementation in the most varied of standard applications.
