SICK has released the Intelliface family of intelligent interface components for a variety of networking levels. These allow safety sensors to be integrated into relay, PLC and safety-oriented field-bus environments.

These components integrate safety technology (sensors and actuators) in customers' machines and are designed for the most varied of control worlds.

The basic requirements of "safe" automation are covered with the modern safety relays of the UE 10 series. They act as evaluation and testing devices for opto-electronic safety sensors, emergency stop, and two-hand control systems, as well as safety switches and interlocks of Types 2-4 according to EN 954.

The UE100 series is the ideal partner for machines with medium networking levels. This series of small configurable safety control systems provides an application solution for general safety uses, with any combination of safety components, and special muting and press applications. Opto-electronic safety equipment, non-contact safety sensors, and safety switches and interlocks can be connected, logically linked and easily integrated in the machine control system.

The IP 67 remote I/O modules of the UE 1000 series are the bus nodes for demanding requirements. The devices are designed for machines and plants with high networking levels and programmable logic controllers. Bus technology can yield advantages including lower wiring costs, bi-directional communication between the field and control levels and high transfer rates.

All safety relevant data from various component via UE 1000 systems. This can include the diagnosis of individual sensors, automatic downloading of sensor configurations and parameters during initial commissioning, the state of the 16 active and passive inputs for safety sensors, or auto-reconfiguration during running operation of the plant when servicing is necessary.

With the components of the Intelliface concept, users profit from rapid commissioning, simple maintenance and uncomplicated exchange of sensors. This minimises the cost of ownership and ensures a high level of cost-effectiveness for the safety technology and the entire plant.
