MURRELEKTRONIK, represented in Australia by Sick , has released a range of MVK Metal field bus I/O modules. They provide IP67 protection and vibration and welding resistance.
An encapsulated, one-piece, die-cast zinc housing with surface finish meets the demands of harsh environments. It can absorb vibrations of 15g and shock of 60g, this robust field bus module is ideally suited to use in the most extreme conditions such as in stamping technology.
The range includes modules with four sockets for analogue inputs or outputs and a Profibus interface. The modules also have four additional multifunctional M12 sockets. Robotics applications such as fixed-cycle revolving tables where analogue and digital signals occur frequently only require a single module, saving space and money. However, users do not have to dispense with diagnostic functions such as fault-triggered socket-related shut-offs and single-channel diagnostics. Overloading, sensor short-circuits and cable breaks are monitored separately for each channel and signalled to the controller without influencing neighboring channels.
The digital I/O modules in the MVK Metal series are available for Profibus, Interbus, CANopen and DeviceNet. As well as a standard input module, a programmable module is also available in which each channel can be individually configured as an input or output for either pin four or pin two of the female connector.
The digital input or output modules can be automatically replaced by the multifunctional module. The user only has to stock the one service module, which is automatically configured and operates like the replaced module. Storage costs are reduced and service work is made easier.
