SICK Australia has released the Safety Center fail-safe minicontroller.

It is set up and programmed by adjusting the function switches on the front with a screwdriver. It is suitable for medium complexity systems such as machining centres, CNC machine tools, conveyors and robot cells. It monitors emergency stop buttons, safety doors, safety light grids and safety interlocks up to safety category 4.

It consists of a base module, an optional bus module for CANopen, DeviceNet or Profibus-DP, and one or more input modules. The elements are 45mm wide and are clipped onto the DIN rail and pushed together until the internal connectors engage. The maximum configuration monitors 32 two-channel sectors. The rated voltage is 24V dc and the capacity of the enabling contacts is 6A.
