The new DMP3 position finder makes all the difference during the positioning of mobile transport equipment in handling and warehousing systems.
The device not only offers particularly high reproducibility and the possibility of simultaneously storing two different positions, but also no longer requires a reflector as a detection aid.
These properties are advantageous in a variety of tasks, e.g. for fine positioning the load-lifting equipment of a storage and retrieval device in front of a storage bay, or during the docking of an automated guided vehicle at a transfer, docking or battery-charging station.
Position finders are optoelectronic sensors used for fine positioning in handling and warehousing systems.
Here, geometrical dimensional tolerances due to temperature, load, or structural variations at, for example, transfer and docking stations, make reliable positioning considerably more difficult without knowledge of the actual in-situ conditions.
The technology of SICK’s new DMP3 position finders has been substantially further developed in order to eliminate the resultant availability risk.
DMP3: precision ensures availability
The DMP3 uses holes in a steel framework for fine positioning in the x- and y-directions, and thus offers maximum precision.
At an object distance of 300 mm, the DMP3 offers a reproducibility of 0.15 mm. This ensures maximum reliability during the automatic positioning of mobile transport equipment – and thus maximum availability of a storage and retrieval device or an automated guided vehicle transport system.
