WITH the RLS 100 SICK has introduced a new safety laser scanner complying with IEC/EN 61496, Type 3. The device can monitor stationary and mobile work-places without any contact through a scanning angle of 300 degrees.
The depth of the protective field is up to 6m and can - like the warning field of up to 10m depth, and numerous further functions - be programmed via the CDS configuration and diagnosis software.
On triggering of the protective function, integrated safety relays directly switch off a hazardous machine movement.
The RLS 100 safety laser scanner is a non-contact safety device for both stationary safeguarding of machines and mobile area monitoring, e.g. on automated guided vehicles.
The device scans its surroundings in two dimensions. Resolution is 70mm at a distance of 6m - the maximum radius of the safety-relevant protective field.
The size and shape of the protective field and the warning field that is up to a further four metres in front of it, can be defined to meet specific application requirements.
When persons or objects are detected by the RLS 100 a corresponding switching signal is given out via the integrated relay contact.
