Twin column testing stands/frames test physically large specimens and apply loads up to 25kN. The increased load allows samples up to 400mm wide and 950mm high to be accommodated. Each test frame has been designed to deliver stiffness, often vital in high load and low elongation testing applications and is driven by twin, pre-loaded and synchronised ball-screws. These testing platforms are provided in a choice of two operating modes, the console controlled MultiTest-x and computer controlled MultiTest-i.
The MultiTest-x carries out precise test procedures ‘at the push of a button’, then automatically displays test results with a pass/fail indicator. The MultiTest-x integrated controller/console displays a series of menus and prompts, which guide the user through the creation of test procedures.
The MultiTest-i when used with Emperor software enables the user to create advanced test programs through the computer. Loadcells mounted on the MultiTest-i test frame download test data synchronously at a rate of up to 2000 times a second, directly to a PC through the serial port. This ensures high accuracy of testing particularly where peak loads are being recorded. Emperor software has been designed to work with the MultiTest-i range of test frames for better test performance. It combines easy use with programming tools making it suitable for advanced test routines in the laboratory.
