Mounting frequency inverters close to the motor reduces the need for long rows of control cabinets, hence eliminating the need for expansive space requirements and reducing installation costs. Decentralized technology can reduce the total cost of ownership of the complete system thanks to the reduction of planning, installation and maintenance costs.

SEW-Eurodrive has developed a broad range of electronically controlled frequency inverters and drive controllers including drives for decentralized installation and control. From a small conveyor feeder to a large process control system, the introduction of decentralized control components including cable systems, field distributors and MOVI-SWITCH® and MOVIMOT® on board motor inverters right into the heart of our products enables SEW-Eurodrive to be a complete "one stop" source for decentralized drive comprising mechanical gear unit, motor, controller, fieldbus communication interface, quick connectors and even cabling components.

Using decentralized control components, flexible adaptation to all process and spatial conditions can be achieved without any difficulty.

MOVIMOT® is a geared motor and frequency inverter combined in one unit.

MOVI-SWITCH® is a compact, heavy-duty and motor integrated start-stop switching device for direct on line starting of geared motors for power ratings up to 3kW with integrated switching and protection function. It is available in all gear unit designs up to enclosure IP65 as well as all mounting positions of the modular system.

MOVIFIT® is a decentralized drive system, specifically designed to be mounted close to the motor. It comes with the following features, including; integrated frequency inverter, integrated motor starter, controller for an external MOVIMOT® frequency inverter which is integrated into the motor, integrated 400 V power distribution, integrated 24 V power distribution, integrated I/O collection, integrated communication interface, local control intelligence as an option, and optional safety technology.
