SEW Eurodrive has extended its popular TorqLOC keyless hollow shaft drive mounting system.
Originally available for gear sizes of 37 to 97, the TorqLOC range now accommodates parallel shaft helical and helical-bevel gear sizes up to 107. This allows the mounting system to be used for applications with output torque requirements of up to 8000Nm - nearly double the driving torque supported by the original TorqLOC range.
The larger TorqLOC size also incorporates the system’s patented innovative keyless mounting design.
Flexible, easy to assemble and corrosion-resistant, TorqLOC enables dramatic improvements in drive shaft connections. It allows the use of standard drawn shaft materials without the high tolerance requirements of standard hollow shaft gear units. Shaft removal is also made easier, even after lengthy periods of operation.
Since its introduction to the Australian market two years ago, the TorqLOC hollow shaft mounting system has demonstrated a range of benefits - from ease of mounting and compactness to improved safety and maintenance.
According to SEW Eurodrive Engineering Manager, Frank Cerra, TorqLOC’s innovative design has made TorqLOC a popular industry choice for use in wet and washdown environments. Providing a keyless connection with a shrink-disc, the interfacing surfaces rely on two conical tapered bushings made from bronze and nickel-plated steel (or stainless steel).
“TorqLOC is the ideal solution for wet environments, where after years of service it is otherwise often impossible to separate the gearbox from the hollow shaft,” said Mr Cerra.
“TorqLOC components are designed for simple installation and removal - you only have to break the steel bushing taper a little and it will fall away. This is still the case after a long service running time.”
TorqLOC offers ultimate flexibility and cost-saving, as different shaft diameters can be accommodated by one hollow shaft diameter and different bushings. The new size extends this flexibility even further to accommodate shaft sizes up to 95mm.
