A NEW ultra-compact and low-cost series of frequency inverter will be launched by global drive solutions group, SEW-Eurodrive, at October’s Automate exhibition in Melbourne.

This latest addition to the company’s Movitrac range of frequency inverters is the Movitrac LT, suitable for low-power variable-speed applications such as fans, pumps, machine tools and conveyors.

Available in two compact frame sizes, the Movitrac LT series comprises single-phase 230V units up to 2.2kW, and three-phase 400V units up to 4.0kW. The use of the latest power modules to achieve an ultra-small footprint, coupled with an innovative bookshelf design, minimise required cabinet space.

According to SEW-Eurodrive applications engineer, Darren Klonowski, Movitrac LT is extremely simple to use. The combination of keyhole mounting and intuitive ‘contactor-style’ wiring connections for motor output and power supply, make both mechanical and electrical installation easy.

In addition, the use of 14 standard configuration parameters streamlines setup time--in many basic applications the factory default settings can be used.

“A mobile-phone style keypad and LED display allow local control and programming of the Movitrac LT inverter,” Klonowski said.

“Plus an integrated 'help card', featuring parameter descriptions and an outline of the wiring terminal layout, provides a ready reference that's more convenient than the complete user manual. This further facilitates operations and technical support.”

The powerful functionality that sets the Movitrac LT series of frequency inverters apart includes programmable I/O for maximum flexibility, the option of silent motor running with 32kHz ‘quiet switching’, the availability of ‘cold plate’ heat sink technology, and the incorporation of a radio frequency interference (RFI) filter that results in C-tick compliance.

The industrially robust unit is also rated to 50°C ambient temperature and will withstand 150 per cent overload for 60 seconds.
