SEW-Eurodrive has launched the latest version of its complimentary frequency inverter configuration and programming software, Movitools.
Movitools provides a user-friendly PC-based interface for the start-up, commissioning, maintenance, and programming of SEW-Eurodrive's frequency inverter products. Version 4.10 has been expanded to support the company's latest application inverter, Movidrive B.
When used with Movimot (SEW-Eurodrive's integrated frequency inverter/motor combination) and Movitrac 07 (standard frequency inverter), Movitools is particularly useful for maintenance and diagnostics purposes.
The “Shell” screens allow start-up and parameterisation of the inverter. “Status” displays the inverter's current state for diagnostics purposes. “Scope” provides high-level diagnostics of inverter-motor performance, offering similar functionality to an on-line oscilloscope.
The Movidrive series of application inverters offer standard variable speed drive performance all the way up to sophisticated positioning and synchronous applications. The full versatility of Movitools is available when used with Movidrive inverters.
Movidrive application inverters carry on-board IPOS intelligence, permitting the drives to be programmed for sophisticated positioning and sequence control. The windows-based programming languages embedded within the Movitools software are Assembler and Compiler.
Either of these can be selected and used. Alternatively, pre-written application modules are available for 13 different applications, which can eliminate the need for any programming.
Movitools version 4.10 supports the advanced features of Movidrive B. This includes the availability of faster communications between PC and drive (57.6 kBaud compared with 9.6).
It also accommodates faster positioning speed of the drive and modified terminal assignments. Other new features include a simplified start-up routine, a new “touch probe positioning” application module and the use of electronic motor nameplate to speed-up commissioning.
Movitools also provides flexible options for PC-to-inverter connectivity. These range from basic serial link communications to interfaces with most popular PLCs via control communications networks such as Profibus, CANopen and Interbus.
In cases where more than one drive inverter are networked, the multi-lingual MOVITOOLS Manager is used to identify devices connected to the network, and select the applicable unit for communication.
