ROTORK Australia has launched a new range of ruggedly designed bevel gearboxes that have been specifically developed for the manual operation of penstocks, gate valves, and other multi-turn valve designs.
Designated the Rotork Gears hob range, standing for hand-operated bevel, the gearboxes are manufactured with a fully enclosed cast iron gearcase, grease filled for a maintenance-free life.
A range of four hob model sizes has been developed in response to input from valvemakers.
All models feature a removable steel or aluminium bronze output sleeve for convenient machining to suit screwed or keyed valve stems with diameters up to 73mm.
Standard hob gearboxes are suitable for valves in the operating torque range of 200 to 1355Nm, within an ambient temperature range of -40ºC to +120ºC.
Optional extras include position indicators, stainless steel input shafts, increasing environmental protection to temporarily submersible IP68 from the standard watertight IP67 and special coatings for aggressive environments.
The new hob design fits neatly into the existing Rotork gears range of gearbox products, encompassing Alecto's quarter turn design for manual valves and fluid power actuators, and Rotork Gear's high output gearboxes designed for manual and electric actuation.
The third company in the Rotork Gears alliance, Valvekits, manufactures and supplies valve mounting kits, adaptions, extensions, locking devices, switchboxes and positioners to complete the scope of supply available to the valvemaking industry from a single Rotork source.
