Ross Brown Sales to celebrate its 50th Anniversary in 2007
Ross Brown Sales was originally founded by Ross Brown in 1957, from humble beginnings in a shared office in the Royal Exchange Building in Sydney’s CBD.
Ross Brown Sales’ growth in turnover, staff and stock levels saw the business premises move from the Sydney CBD to Artarmon, Castle Hill and in 1998 to its current location in the Norwest Business Park. Ross Brown Sales now operates successful branch offices in Melbourne, and Auckland, NZ, with agents in South Australia and Western Australia. With the advent of greater technology and more reliable transport partners, Ross Brown Sales now service Queensland and Northern Territory directly from its Baulkham Hills head office.
Ross Brown Sales’ product range in the early years included many hardware items, as well as a range of pressure gauges manufactured under the brand name of EMPEO, Germany. Pressure gauges quickly became the prime focus of the business as Ross Brown Sales continued to develop. Today, Ross Brown Sales is widely acknowledged as Australia’s leading supplier of measurement and calibration equipment.
An initial agreement with Ametek /US Gauge in 1975 has developed into a strong alliance and allowed the company to expand its focus into the Oil and Gas industries with a comprehensive range of high quality, reliable precision pressure measurement and calibration equipment. Through an Ametek joint venture with a Chinese based company, Ross Brown Sales now provides general equipment gauges to OEM’s and industry under the well recognised RB logo.
The strength of the Ametek alliance has increased throughout the years with Ross Brown Sales representing a number of other divisions of the Ametek group.
During the sixties Ross Brown Sales consolidated it’s position in the pressure market and saw son, Graham, join his father Ross in the business in 1967. In 1988, on the retirement of Ross Brown, Graham bought the business from his father.
Recognising the need to expand from a pressure gauge supplier to a company, which was able to solve pressure and other process problems, Ross Brown Sales actively sought complementary product lines.
Today, Ross Brown Sales sells products for precision pressure measurement and calibration, temperature measurement and calibration, as well as torque, force, flow, and data loggers. Ross Brown Sales has further diversified into supplying electric motors with 120V and 240V products, which it supplies to the pool, spa and vacuum cleaner OEM’s.
Ross Brown Sales operates and maintains a NATA Accredited Metrology Laboratory (Pressure), Accreditation No:1808 for the calibration of Pressure and Vacuum devices from 100kPa Vac to 100,000 kPa Pressure.
Ross Brown Sales has grown with an annual turnover approaching $10 million and a staff and management team comprising 28 highly competent and committed personnel. Ross Brown Sales’ staff are all committed to continue to supply the high quality levels of service, which customers deserve.
