The 6th of December marked the end of an era, with the passing of Ronald Charles New, the founder of Ronson Gears .
Ron’s achievements and contribution to Australian industry and the wider community have been wide and varied.
Armed with a great entrepreneurial spirit Ron commenced operation of Ronson Engineering in October 1954 in St Kilda, having learnt his craft at Qualos Machine Tools. He built the company from the ground up and laid strong foundations for Ronson Gears to become the leading gear manufacturer that it is today.
Through his sound management of Ronson Gears, Ron supported many families over the years, providing jobs and a secure work environment for a number of generations. He was also a long-serving member of Rotary Australia.
A true pioneer in this country's engineering landscape, Ron will be remembered for his integrity, passion and commitment to the Australian gearing industry.
Much loved and respected father of three, two of his sons, Gordon and Terry, supported by grandson Gavin carry on Ron's great legacy, Ronson Gears.
Ron was also a proud grandfather of six, and great-grandfather of three. He lived an abundant life, and died peacefully at the age of 94.
