Shadow Robot Company's dexterous hands have been designed to provide a close analogue to human hands, providing 24 movements that allow the direct mapping from a human to the robot, and are now available from Romheld Automation .

Described as the most advanced dexterous hands in the world, these robotic handling systems provide comparable force output and movement sensitivity to the human hand.

They feature integrated sensing and position control, allowing for precise control from off-board computers, or integration into existing robot platforms.

An integrated bank of 40 air muscles provides movement, each of which is compliant, allowing the hands to be used around soft or fragile objects.

In addition, Shadow's dexterous hands can be fitted with touch sensing on the fingertips, offering sensitivity sufficient to detect a single small coin.
