Roland DG has announced a Value-Up update for the popular MDX-40 desktop subtractive rapid prototyping machine. The update will improve useability, as well as adding a range of features that will improve quality and performance.
The MDX-40 desktop subtractive rapid prototyping machine will be updated free of charge to end users as part of the ongoing worldwide Value-Up programmes.
Both Roland DG Care and Value-UP have been created to expand upon and emphasise the level of aftercare that Roland DG provides to its users post purchase.

Main features of the Value Up Update
New ClickMILL Software for Convenient Finishing Processes is a newly developed Roland ClickMill software that enables fast production and easy onscreen modifications. It performs simple prototype milling, finishing and fixturing and enables users to add pockets and holes and round edges without the need to access 3D CAD software.
Updates to V Panel (the on-screen operation panel) will offer additional functions, allowing the user to move the cursor in 8 directions - vertical, horizontal and oblique and adjustable cursor speed of movements for easier origin setting. It will also allow users to adjust milling conditions such as spindle rotation and speed while observing status for time and material savings.
MDX-40 now accepts a new, larger Rotary Axis Unit and the new rotary axis unit ZCL-40A is now available for install*. It supports materials up to 270mm long by 120mm in diameter. This is four (4) times the capacity of the previous model and objects can be milled unattended at any angle from 0 to 360 degrees. * The ZCL-40A unit is available and an optional extra.
The MDX-40 now supports NC codes (G-code) for both professional and educational applications. * Users can switch between NC codes and Roland RML-1 on the V Panel.
The free Value-Up service period runs from 7 July to 31 October 2009.
