Roland DG Australia supplies MDX-20 milling machines, versatile units that are capable of both scanning and milling, and are suitable for a variety of product design tasks.

The milling spindle unit in these machines functions as a complete CNC mill, which is able to cut:

  • jeweller's wax
  • resins
  • chemical wood
  • acrylic; and
  • light metals such as brass and aluminium.
Adopting Subtractive Rapid Prototyping (SRP), these machines deliver significantly cheaper performance than other rapid prototyping machines, while maintaining similar resolutions. They can also mill a wider range of materials, with no need for chemicals or post finishing work.

A Roland Active Piezo Sensor (RAPS) transforms these milling machines into a fully featured 3D scanner that can scan 3D objects and create precise 3D data.
