Versatile safety switching from Rockwell Automation
Versatile safety switching from Rockwell Automation

Rockwell Automation  has launched a new range of Allen-Bradley Guardmaster safety limitswitches—the 440P compact metal 22mm series. Comprising of 14 models, the new 440Pseries features a two-meter pre-terminated side- or bottom-entry cable, and a rugged, compact 22mm metal housing.  Thenew safety limit switch series also boasts a broad choice of operatorconfigurations, such as dome, roller or cross-roller plunger, and short-roller lever. Each member of the new 440P safety limit switch series is equipped withpositively driven contacts, making them ideal for both safety and standardswitching applications.

According toGary Milburn, Rockwell Automation Safety Area Manager, the new 440P safetylimit switches are extremely versatile—both functionally and from aninstallation perspective. “When ganged together to provide two ‘normallyclosed’ circuits, or used in conjunction with a safety PLC, the new 440P seriescan accommodate safety applications up to SIL3 and Cat4,” he said.“Alternatively, the switches can be used in isolation for standard switchingapplications.”

The 440Pseries’ safety switches pre-terminated cable and compact industry-standard 22mm housingconstruction permit simple and quick installation, especially in hard-to-accessareas. “The pre-terminated cable drastically reduces wiring requirements andminimises installation time,” explained Milburn. “This means applications canbe brought on line sooner.” Further installation flexibility can be realisedthanks to the 440P’s slotted mounting holes, which permit a wide variety ofmounting orientations. Additionally, some of the new 440P range of safety switches are availablewith a threaded panel-mount configuration.

Boasting anIP67 and NEMA 1 enclosure rating, the new Rockwell Automation 440P safety limitswitch series is built to withstand arduous operating environments. Importantly, the 440P series is IEC-approved CE-marked, UL-recognised, and TÜV-approved.

The new440P safety limit switch range complements the existing Rockwell Automation limitswitch offering, which now comprises four body styles—30mm metal, 22mm metal,22mm plastic, 15mm plastic. With a broad selection of operator types, circuitconfigurations and connection options, the Rockwell Automation limit switch familyprovides industry with the most versatile solution for safety and standardswitching applications.
