ROCKWELL Automation’s annual technical training forum, AutomationTechED 2006, held in Melbourne during August, attracted over 120 technology end-users, system integrators and distributors.
Attendance at the four-day event was up more than 35 percent from last year with participants from all states, New Zealand and Singapore.
According to Rockwell Automation software manager, Robert Reytomas, the rising popularity of AutomationTechED signifies a clear intention by enterprises to optimise the investment made in control automation and third party/legacy systems.
Major drawcards were FactoryTalk, Rockwell Automation’s manufacturing information platform, and the release of the RSLogix 5000 v16 “enterprise series” software, for sequential, process, drive and motion control programming.
Topics also covered Allen-Bradley drives, safety, motion and integrated control platforms. During laboratory sessions, participants were provided with live “on the bench” computer systems to configure and operate.
