The new Allen-Bradley CompactLogix controller.
The new Allen-Bradley CompactLogix controller.

THE latest addition to Rockwell Automation’s Kinetix integrated motion offering is the Allen-Bradley CompactLogix 1768-L43 controller.

Featuring a small, modular footprint, it controls up to four axes of motion in materials handling, packaging, metal forming and other applications in which speed, motion synchronisation and information-sharing are required.

The controller combines the benefits of a SERCOS interface and EtherNet/IP with a powerful, cost-efficient processor. It also supports DeviceNet and ControlNet, enabling a seamless flow of information from the smallest device up through the enterprise business system.

The CompactLogix 1768-L43 platform eliminates the need for a battery, reducing maintenance and support issues. It also supports removable CompactFlash memory that can be used as a program and firmware storage area, providing users with the ability to archive projects that can be loaded into multiple controllers.

CompactLogix leverages the same Logix control engine, motion, networking technology and communications services as the Allen-Bradley ControlLogix and SoftLogix controllers, making it part of Rockwell Automation's scalable integrated architecture.

In addition, the CompactLogix 1768-L43 platform will support the 38 embedded motion instructions and preloaded motion parameters currently offered on the ControlLogix controllers.

What's more, it employs Rockwell Software RSLogix 5000 programming software so users can move easily from one Logix application to another with no additional program development or training.

In the end, users can leverage all the benefits of Kinetix Integrated Motion while cost-effectively integrating their small motion applications with the rest of the enterprise.
