Rockwell Automation has introduced a new range of configurable safety relays from Allen Bradley, designed to offer a flexible, cost-effective and easy-to-use safety solution.
The new Allen Bradley Guardmaster 440C-CR30 is ideal for applications requiring 4-10 safety circuits and control of up to 5 zones. Configured through Connected Components Workbench (CCW) software, also used by the Micro 800 family of controllers, PanelView component HMIs and PowerFlex drives, the configurable safety relay allows for simple and seamless programming of standard and safety logic in separate devices.
Guardmaster 440C-CR30’s ease of use comes from the distinctive graphical user interface and drag-and-drop capabilities of the CCW software, guiding users through a simple process of selecting certified safety function blocks for the safety relay. Users can therefore, create, control and monitor a safety system in the same software environment as their standard control, resulting in increased productivity and reduced programming time.
Paul Costantin, Business Manager, Components - South Pacific, Rockwell Automation explains that the free CCW software allows users to deploy complex safety functions quickly and simply through an intuitive logic editor that uses TUV certified function blocks. The compact hardware design and IO flexibility allows use of the 440C in standalone safety functions as well as applications requiring multiple safety functions and zones.
These capabilities combined with user flexibility increase the level of integration and diagnostics visualisation in the 440C, which is invaluable for machine builders, safety integrators and all end users.
Key features of the Guardmaster 440C-CR30 configurable safety relays include an embedded Modbus interface allowing the device to easily communicate diagnostic data to an Allen-Bradley Micro 800 PLC and PanelView component; enabling users to monitor, troubleshoot and modify their applications quickly and easily for increased uptime by leveraging the features of CCW and in-built embedded communication capabilities; five status and 16 user configurable LEDs providing local diagnostics to further support status reporting and troubleshooting; and 22 on-board configurable safety I/O points in a 110mm footprint optimising panel space for applications requiring multiple safety zones.
The 440C-CR30 can also be expanded with two standard Micro 800 plug-in modules to support 16 additional standard I/O points without increasing the footprint, saving valuable safety I/O points for the safety system.
