Rockwell Automation unveil IncuityEMI software

Rockwell Automation have introduced the IncuityEMI version 2.6 enterprise manufacturing intelligence (EMI) software. The software tool is designed to access data from disparate sources of a manufacturing facility and organise, analyse and present that data through user-friendly web browsers or remote interfaces. A standard data model, the IncuityEMI software unifies incompatible information such as time-series data generated on the plant floor and transaction-oriented data in enterprise business systems, enabling decisions to be made.

According to Rockwell Software, the standard data model, known as the unified production model (UPM), provides information to end-users in everyday language and in the context they require it. The data model organises data from different sources and presents it with relevance to the data surrounding it. The UPM can utilise a custom-designed or pre-defined data model, such as the ISA S95.

IncuityEMI treats the various data sources as silos of information. The sources could be plant-floor controllers, SCADA and historians, plus laboratory, batch and maintenance systems, manufacturing execution systems (MES) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. The UPM references the information without extracting or storing it, then combines and correlates the real-time data in the context of recreational and transactional business data, such as business goals, supply chain requirements and compliance parameters. The real-time data is presented in the form of web portals or dashboards and can be exported to Microsoft Excel.

The IncuityEMI version 2.6 software tool complements Rockwell Automation’s FactoryTalk integrated production and performance software suite. The IncuityEMI software can access and analyse each of the modular FactoryTalk modules, such as FactoryTalk View (an HMI) FactoryTalk ProductionCentre (an MES), FactoryTalk Historian and FactoryTalk AssetCentre.

According to Rockwell Software, IncuityEMI has the ability to leverage existing infrastructure and can bridge all existing systems. The IncuityEMI can be expanded to accommodate additions and is a zero-footprint application. Once loaded on a nominated server, any computer terminal with the right security authorisation can access the tool through a web interface.

The IncuityEMI simplifies and rationalises all data in a plant to provide a single source for all production information needs, enabling data to be visible and actionable. The IncuityEMI coexists with control systems and business applications and provides real-time intelligence for business decision support.
