ROCKWELL Automation has released the SmartSight 9000 DeviceNet photoelectric sensor. An enhancement of the Series 9000 DeviceNet product family, the sensor combines advanced logic and a 'self-teach' operation.
The photoelectric device's variety of sensing modes and sensing range cover the optical requirements of most applications easily and effectively.
The sensor connects directly to the DeviceNet network and supports the most basic DeviceNet functions -- such as autobaud detect, combined strobing and 'change of state' (COS) messaging.
An added dimension is the range of advanced on-board logic functions, including a configurable ON/OFF time delay, counter, jam detection and sensor diagnostics (static and dynamic).
Through the use of a new self-teach feature, SmartSight 9000 can learn the application conditions with the press of a button. After evaluating the background and target, it then sets the sensitivity levels automatically, eliminating the need to make manual sensitivity adjustments.
The longer sensing range makes it suitable for use in materials handling applications such as conveyors and palletisers. Rockwell Automation 03 9896 0300.
