TWO new compact operator interfaces from Rockwell Automation mean OEMs and end users can now easily and cost-effectively pack maximum functionality into the smallest amount of space.
The Allen-Bradley PanelView Plus 400 and PanelView Plus 600 terminals offer all of the standard preconfigured elements available with larger PanelView Plus models, but in a smaller size.
The new Allen-Bradley PanelView Plus 400 keypad measures 152 X 185 X 90mm, while the PanelView Plus 600 Keypad/touch screen model measures 167 X 266 X 98mm. The PanelView Plus 600 touch-screen only model measures 152 X 185 X 98mm.
In addition to their space and cost efficient features, the terminals provide advanced functionality, including animation, trending, data logging, and object math and logic expressions-all valuable for improving operator efficiency, optimising processes, and diagnosing problems virtually anywhere on the plant floor.
"Many small graphic terminals sacrifice functionality for size," said David Black, product manager, Rockwell Automation Australia.
"With these new models in the PanelView Plus line, choosing a smaller operator interface doesn't have to mean fewer features. While keeping costs low, we're able to offer the full functionality users have come to expect from models with larger screen sizes."
Standard PanelView Plus 400 and 600 terminals are high resolution monochrome displays, with an optional colour active matrix with backlight available in the PanelView Plus 600 for superior imaging of process and diagnostic information.
All new PanelView Plus models feature keypad input terminals for numeric entry, screen navigation and programmable function keys. PanelView Plus 600 users also can specify an analogue resistive touch screen or combination keypad/touch if they prefer.
Like all models in the PanelView Plus line, the PanelView Plus 400 and 600 terminals include a USB port for peripheral device support and a compact flash card slot for data storage and file storage and transfer.
For distributed applications requiring networked PLC communications, the new terminals are available with RS232, onboard Ethernet networking, and an interface that allows simultaneous communications with multiple networks.
Users also can add optional communication modules for connectivity for DH-485, DH+, remote I/O networks or additional isolated RS232C communications.
To help reduce installation and maintenance costs, the PanelView Plus terminals feature a patent-pending mounting mechanism that requires just a single cutout; no tools are needed for terminal mounting. In addition, a removable terminal block makes it easy to change parts or upgrade the system.
PanelView Plus 400 and PanelView Plus 600 are part of Rockwell Automation's ViewAnyWare plant visualisation strategy, which is designed to offer a consistent, scalable and unified suite of monitoring and control solutions for the entire manufacturing enterprise.
