ROCKWELL Automation’s new Allen-Bradley RS-232/DF1 port splitter allows industrial control users to expand the communications capabilities of their existing controllers cost-effectively.
The port splitter connects to a controller's DF1 full-duplex port, allowing it to simultaneously communicate with a local network and an operator interface through a single port.
Control users with a single DF1 full-duplex port can use the splitter to create one full-function port for two-way communication between the controller and a local network.
The second port is 'respond-only' and is primarily designed to run a human-machine interface (HMI) or programming terminal.
With the DF1 port splitter, control designers and system-level users now have an inexpensive way to increase communications and flexibility in their existing controllers.
The Allen-Bradley DF1 port splitter is compatible with Rockwell Automation controllers, such as the SLC 500, PLC-5, MicroLogix, ControlLogix, CompactLogix and FlexLogix.
