The Allen-Bradley SMC-3 range of smart motor controllers is now available with extended current ratings. Available from one of the leading automation technology groups, Rockwell Automation, the SMC-3 provides high functionality and enhanced diagnostics in a modular, compact design.
The SMC-3’s soft starting technology enables good intelligence in a compact footprint. SMC-3’s soft starting technology includes standard electronic overload protection with adjustable trip class, advanced motor and system diagnostics, configurable auxiliary contacts and multiple start and stop modes.
SMC-3’s soft starting technology’s extended current range, up to 480A, also makes the SMC-3 an ideal solution for larger applications. The new current ratings allow inside delta connections, making it possible to start motors with up to 831A full load current.
The configuration possibilities for the Allen-Bradley SMC-3 soft starter include a choice of overload trip classes (10, 15, 20 or OFF) and a selectable overload reset (manual or automatic). The smart motor controller’s fault diagnostics cover over-temperature, phase loss/load loss, phase reversal conditions, phase imbalance and shorted thyristors. DIP switches allow easy, precise and secure setting of the start/stop profile, overload trip class and auxiliary contact characteristics.
