New from leading automation technology group, Rockwell Automation , the Allen-Bradley Kinetix 6000 servo drive now has GuardMotion safe-off functionality. Delivering faster restarts and increased reliability, this new functionality leads to reduced downtime and minimises drive wear-and-tear.
The Kinetix 6000 safety servo drive is part of Rockwell Automation’s Kinetix Integrated Motion suite of products. The Kinetix 6000 safety servo drive’s GuardMotion safe-off functionality allows machines to be restarted faster in the event of unplanned maintenance. This means machine builders now have a safe, efficient and simpler option to power down motion control systems in a wide range of high-speed applications, including packaging, materials handling, and converting.
In the event of a machine interruption, conventional motion systems maintain safety by disconnecting power at the drive. This causes lengthy power recharge and machine restart procedures, and reduces longevity of drive power components. The Kinetix 6000 drive safe-off feature eliminates torque at the motor. This shuts down the machine, but keeps the power supply on, allowing maintenance staff to perform tasks such as cleaning the machine, removing a jam or changing a tool. It also enables the machine to be restarted up to 20 per cent faster than if the power connection had to be recharged, boosting machine availability.
The Allen-Bradley Kinetix 6000 drive with GuardMotion can help improve worker safety, and increase machine productivity. The GuardMotion safe-off feature has been certified as suitable for risk reduction applications up to both safety integrity level (SIL) 3 and Category 3, meaning it is well-suited for functional safety applications.
