Nufarm, a leading Australian-based international chemical manufacturer has incorporated a robot palletiser from Robotic Automation into its local manufacturing operations.
Based in Laverton on Melbourne's outskirts, Nufarm produces a variety of agricultural crop protection products, as well as industrial and specialty chemicals.
In response to increasing demand for its products, the company contacted Robotic Automation to supply a Motoman SP100 robotic palletiser for use in its palletising operations.
Featuring a payload of 100kg, SP100 robot palletisers are ideal for high speed palletising applications involving heavy products. Nufarm is using its new machine to palletise products in 20 litre pails and 20 litre plastic cubes.
Key benefits of the new robot palletiser for Nufarm included the flexibility of the machine, and the potential for expansion in the future. In addition, by using a robot to palletise heavy products, the company was able to eliminate the OH&S issues associated with the manual palletising of large loads.
To further ensure the palletising process is safe for personnel working at Nufarm, light curtains and optoelectronic sensors have been incorporated as part of a perimeter guarding system.
