Robotic Automation has installed a Motoman-UP50-35 robot at a bathroom equipment manufacturing company to automate various tasks in bath tub development.
Carefree Bathing is a provider of bathroom equipment developed from glass-fibre-reinforced plastics. The company has deployed a Motoman-UP50-35 robot for automating various tasks involved in the secondary finishing stage of bath tub development.
An important constituent of a bathtub is a robust steel frame designed to prevent distortions and water seepage. Other constituents include spray resin and pieces of fibre with 6mm thickness.
The curing stage is followed by the finishing stage in which the shell is placed in a robot cell featuring the six-axis robot.
The robot completes the milling and finishing tasks within 24 cycles. The robot’s arm carries a milling unit, which has a spindle operating at high speed. Concurrently, apertures for the jet spa system are also made by the robot.
A key benefit for the company facilitated by the robot is the reduction in cycle times to 85% in comparison with manual finishing operations.
In addition to increasing productivity, superior quality is assured in the final products thanks to the robotic automation that also reduces the discard rate and time overhead.
