Richmond Castors new showroom is now open in Wetherill Park, at 485 Victoria Street. The new state of the art showroom and warehouse facility has a wide range of wheel, castors, material handling and conveyor equipment.
Further to Richmond Castors engineering capacity, they have just designed and manufactured a custom spring loaded castor. Richmond Castors were approached with a display stand for a museum which wanted to show a very old 25 tonne steam locomotive. The display stand needed to be rolled exactly into position and the locomotive would be lowered on to it through a hole in the roof. As the load came on, the castors needed to retract, so that the base of the display stand could reach the floor and spread the load evenly across the floor.
Richmond Castors quickly came up with the design (pictured) which was made in two weeks. The springs where able to carry 300kgs per castor, before deflecting.
