Renishaw Oceania’s RMP600 strain gauge probe has helped provide Triumph Fabrication’s CAD/CAM department the refined “touch” needed for consistent, high accuracy measurement of small hole diameters, contours and geometric tolerances. The RMP600 delivers high accuracy when triggered from any direction with no lobing and a repeatability of 0.2 μm.
When combined with Renishaw’s OMV Pro Software, the RMP600 strain gauges provided Triumph Fabrications’ Zimmerman CNC 5-axis portal mill CMM-like capability, which allowed complex parts to be “bought off” the machine with measurement results that routinely come within 0.025 mm.
The RMP600 strain gauge probes also eliminated Triumph Fabrications’ need for offline checks, which saved the company from production delays potential damage and accuracy problems that arose when moving and re-fixturing high value parts.
Renishaw’s RMP600 strain gauges combines the patented RENEGAGE strain gauge technology with frequency hopping radio transmission system from the RMP60. The RMP600 strain-gauge offers the benefits of automated job set-up, as well as the ability to measure complex 3D part geometries on all sizes of machining centres including 5-axis machines.
