Renishaw shortlisted for top manufacturing award

Supplier News
World-leading engineering technologies company, Renishaw has been nominated by Cranfield School of Management for the Best Factory Awards 2012, which celebrate manufacturing excellence in the UK.

Renishaw's Woodchester facility in Gloucestershire has been nominated for the Best Factory Award. This manufacturing facility is used by Renishaw to design, develop and assemble components for a wide range of metrology products including laser calibration devices for machine tools, encoders for precision position feedback and other manufacturing work.

Renishaw's Woodchester assembly plant is the largest of four assembly facilities within the Renishaw Group. The 15,000m² site has 348 employees working in various manufacturing roles and operates within an environment of high innovation and constant change.

Gareth Hankins, Director of Group Manufacturing Services Division commented that a lot of effort has been invested in making Renishaw's Woodchester manufacturing site a world-class facility, and the award nomination is a testament to the quality and motivation of Renishaw employees at Woodchester.

Editor of Works Management magazine Max Gosney congratulated all the factories and their teams in the awards shortlist.

According to Dr Marek Szwejczewski, Director of the Best Factory Awards, all the finalists are beacons of excellence, driven by the desire to improve and excel and are growing despite the flat British economy.

The Best Factory Awards 2012 are organised by Cranfield School of Management with the magazine Works Management and sponsored by Toyota Material Handling UK, IOSH, Schaeffler, Zurich, EAL and Epicor. The winners will be announced at an awards luncheon in London on 28th September.
