The latest version of Ballbar 20 software (V5.09.04) is now available free of charge for existing users of Renishaw ’s QC20-W and QC10 ballbars.

Ballbar 20 (V5.09.04) is the current software shipped with all Renishaw’s QC20-W ballbar kits, allowing fast machine tool performance, testing, and analysis. When used with suitable PC operating system software, Ballbar 20 is also compatible with QC10 ballbars to allow users to run a single software programme even if they use both QC10 and QC20-W ballbars.

Enhanced to give even greater flexibility for testing and reporting, this latest version of Ballbar 20 software has a range of features, including:

  • revised manuals now with full German language support
  • compatibility with Windows XP (SP2 or higher), Windows Vista and Windows 7
  • extended 64-bit support.
Renishaw has a policy of regularly updating its software to fix possible bugs, add functionality, extend language support, reflect changes in standards and respond to changes in Microsoft operating systems.

To allow users to benefit from this flexibility, the software is now available as a ‘free of charge’ download from the Renishaw website or by contacting a local Renishaw office for a CD.

Renishaw’s QC10 and QC20-W telescopic ballbars have gained widespread recognition as the best and most practical method for quickly checking machine tool positioning performance.

The new QC20-W telescopic ballbar retains the QC10’s principle of a simple CNC circular program, and powerful analysis software. Together, these can quickly diagnose and quantify machine positioning errors including servo mismatch, stick-slip errors, backlash, repeatability, scale mismatch and machine geometry as well as giving an overall circularity error value.
