Third year apprentice and Renishaw employee Tom Silvey recently won two awards at Gloucestershire's Apprenticeships Awards.
Tom received the award of Outstanding Apprentice in the Engineering & Manufacturing category, along with the Diamond Jubilee Gloucestershire Apprentice of the Year award. The latter is granted to the year's most outstanding apprentice.
The awards were presented by Her Royal Highness the Princess Royal at a gala dinner held at Cheltenham Racecourse on April 4th.
Approximately 350 apprentices and businesses attended the event, and awards spanned the manufacturing, health, construction and finance sectors.
Tom is currently training as a Production Engineer at Renishaw's world-class machine shop in Stonehouse, Gloucestershire. He has completed many practical design projects with Renishaw, and his success in doing so contributed to his nomination for the prestigious awards.
Renishaw’s Chairman and Chief Executive, David McMurty said “This is a proud moment for… the people within Renishaw who have helped mentor [Tom] over the past few years. We have an excellent track record of developing our own talent.”
