Renishaw Oceania 's LM13 linear magnetic encoders offer OEM designers an ultra-compact and dependable solution for applications too tough for optical encoders.

Measuring just 14mm tall and consisting of only a readhead and separate self-adhesive scale, LM13 linear magnetic encoders are engineered for extreme service. These magnetic encoders can operate in temperatures from 10°C to 80°C, provide waterproof sealing to IP68, and have a high resistance to vibration, pressure and shock.

LM13 linear magnetic encoders produce a digital, square-wave signal output to RS422, with 9 customer-selectable resolutions between 1 µm and 250 µm, and velocities up to 4 m/sec at 1 µm resolution. The encoder comes with bidirectional reference that can be actuated by a preset mark integrated into the scale, or by adding a reference sticker on top of the scale using the self-aligning installation tool.

The LM13 linear magnetic encoder is easy to install and features an integral set-up LED on the readhead, wide installation tolerances, and an applicator tool for the adhesive-backed scale. The scale is available in coiled into lengths up to 100 metres or 'cut to length'.
