A long running electronics conference in Australia, the Surface Mount Conference, will again be held alongside Reed Exhibitions' National Manufacturing Week at the end of May.
The 2008 conference marks the 20th anniversary of the Surface Mount and Circuit Board Association (SMCBA) and the Surface Mount Conference.
“This is the longest running conference for the electronics industry in Australia,” said conference organiser and SMCBA Executive Officer, Andrew Pollock.
“Its success over the years is testimony to the importance of the conference in keeping the industry abreast of the latest developments.”
Headlining the 2008 conference are three international experts:
- Ray Prasad, Prasad Consultancy Group, USA, expert is in electronics design and manufacture
- Susy Webb, Fairfield Industries, USA, a senior PCB designer with 30 years experience
- Gareth Davies, OK International, Singapore, a senior executive experience with large equipment design and manufacturing
These experts along with local presenters will share their knowledge with an anticipated audience of more than 200 electronics designers, manufacturers, service and support managers, engineers, technicians, quality assurance and process personnel from across Australia and New Zealand.
According to Pollock, the Surface Mount Conference has over the last 20 years kept the electronics industry informed about the new technology and technological change that has been developed and implemented throughout the electronics industry worldwide.
“The role of the SMCBA to keep the electronics industry in Australian and New Zealand up to date with the times and in touch with world’s best practice and the conference has been the main vehicle for achieving this,” said Pollock.
“Anyone in management, engineering, purchasing, design, process, quality and manufacturing who is working with tin-lead or lead-free surface mount technology, fine pitch or ball grid array should consider attending the conference.”
Since the first Surface Mount Conference in 1988 more than 100 international experts have been brought to Australia by the SMCBA for the conference and other seminars and workshops.
