Applied Research of Australia (AROA) will be displaying its new “Like Steel” cutable rockbolts on Stand B1057 during AIMEX 2007 – Asia Pacific’s International Mining Exhibition, to be held at Sydney’s Olympic Park from September 4 to 7, 2007.
These bolts combine the high torque installation strength of steel with the flexibility and safety of a traditional cutable bolt.
Cutable fibreglass bolts were developed to prevent damage to the mining and conveying machinery as they are easily broken up by the shearing equipment when areas where they are installed are subsequently mined.
However they were prone to damage when torqued up, leading to perceptions that all cutable bolts are difficult to install and expensive due to the necessity to re-bolt sections of the rib walls that have partially failed.
The “Like Steel” bolts overcome this with torque strengths exceeding 320N/m.
