A conference designed for manufacturers to achieve peak performance will be hosted by the Queensland chapter of the Association for Manufacturing Excellence (AME) at Queensland Manufacturing Technology Exhibition (QMan), which will be held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre from October 21 to 23, 2008.
The AME conference theme is “Achieving peak performance through people, process and product,” and will cover areas of workforce development, Lean leadership, and behaviour change. The conference will present an opportunity for those working in manufacturing to meet others working in similar roles, and to learn from their experiences.
The AME provide information on the topics to be presented at the QMan. The session on Practical Approaches to Workforce Development will be facilitated by Michael Voss and Alastair Lynch from AP Leadership. Voss will give a presentation outlining how business and sports work in the same way with regard to strategy, leadership direction and teamwork. Lynch will facilitate a panel of experts who will discuss collaborative networks, workforce/business strategy alignment that contribute to a magnet organisation.
The session on Lean Leadership will discuss the Lean applied in Australian and New Zealand public hospitals and will be presented by Michael Blatchford, who has been implementing Lean principles for the past nine years in continuous and batch manufacturing plants. The paper on Behaviour Change will be presented by Christine Bridges-Taylor, from B&R Enclosures. Bridges-Taylor will talk about B&R’s growth, enabled by technology and working in a team-based environment to deliver results.
