Redstar receives Local Buy Contract

Supplier News

With the go-ahead from Local Buy, Redstar Equipment has now become one of the preferred suppliers for local councils across Australia. Local Buy provides comprehensive value adding procurement services to councils and government entities in Australia.

Redstar offers complete lines of industrial and commercial diesel welders, diesel generators, industrial and mobile diesel compressors, diesel lighting towers and site diesel fuel tanks with highly fuel efficient options available across its entire range of products.

Redstar Equipment also offers complete service solutions including fabrication, equipment customisation and specialist components in addition to support ranging from scheduled service and maintenance to engine replacement. Spare parts for all makes and models are also available.

Redstar’s fabrication department can custom build trailers, site boxes, lead sets and wire feeders to suit any requirement or application and back it up with onsite servicing and technical advice at the workshop or in the field.

Prior to Local Buy’s establishment, from 1995 to November 2001, the Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ) operated a program called CAPS (Contracts and Purchasing Services), which provided councils and government entities with the option of using contractual arrangements that had been created through a full tendered process.

The CAPS program was subsequently transformed in 2001 into a separate corporate entity, called Local Buy Pty Ltd that would provide an all-encompassing procurement service for councils and government entities.

Wholly owned by the LGAQ, Local Buy specialises in the creation of contractual arrangements for goods and services that are used by councils and government entities, aggregating the demand for these goods and services to achieve better pricing and conditions.

This eliminates the need for councils and government purchasers to establish their own supply contracts, while enabling them to procure goods and services from Local Buy contracted suppliers without having to request tenders or seek multiple quotes regardless of their spend amounts.

While councils and other government authorities are not legally bound to use Local Buy’s services, purchasers not only save time and money, but are also fully compliant with the Local Government Act 2009 in their purchasing activities.
