RedPrairie have announced that the supermarket chain, Delhaize, will optimise their supply chain with the scheduling and collaboration functionalities of the RedPrairie transportation management solution. Five Delhaize distribution centres (DCs) will use the transportation management solution to manage inbound deliveries efficiently and optimise dock usage.
Approximately 1,500 suppliers will plan their deliveries using the online collaboration portal. The five Delhaize distribution centres serve 775 points of sale in Belgium. RedPrairie transportation management solutions offer a user-friendly interface. As the scheduling and collaboration portal is a part of a complete transportation management suite, the module offers opportunities for the future.
Using the collaboration portal, suppliers plan their deliveries themselves. Warehouse planners monitor the plan and adapt it where necessary. Suppliers then receive an automatic notification. Delhaize manage stock levels and ensure that inbound deliveries match dock availability. Planning is a manual process, which results in long waiting times for trucks arriving at the DCs.
According to Delhaize, the RedPrairie transportation management solution is an essential part of their new logistics infrastructure. The transportation management solution can easily manage the arrival of trucks. The solution helps in knowing how long an average delivery takes and can compare that against the actual time taken. This allows Delhaize to make suppliers accountable for their performance. According to RedPrairie, their scheduling and collaboration solution will allow Delhaize to streamline their supply chain.
