RedPrairie, a leading consumer driven optimisation company, has announced that Bob’s Discount Furniture has implemented RedPrairie’s Warehouse Management (WMS) in distribution centre.
Bob’s Discount Furniture has gained visibility into inventory and achieved improvements in labour productivity and throughput since going live with the RedPrairie solution in November, 2007.
Bob’s Discount Furniture 250,000-square-metre distribution centre supports 30 stores. The facility ships direct to stores, to drop-off points for home delivery and to third-party cross-dock facilities.
Productivity gains have been made through improved picking and putaway processes in combination with less manual activity.
“We are experiencing explosive growth and needed a solution to maximise productivity while giving Bob’s customers the best customer service. We’re very pleased with the tools RedPrairie has given us – providing visibility into warehouse operations and supporting our efficiency priorities. And the implementation support was phenomenal,” said Steve Caprario vice president of operations and logistics.
“Buying furniture is a major, yet personal choice for consumers. Once they make the big decision, they want their furniture perfect, available immediately, with the option to reject or return it if they change their mind. This poses tremendous pressure on furniture retailers’ distribution operations for speed, accuracy and flexibility.
“We are pleased to partner with Bob’s to provide visibility and productivity tools to make that level of customer satisfaction a continuing reality,” said Jerry Neville, Sr. Vice President for RedPrairie.
