Prototypes are used for many different purposes, namely form, fit and function. Sometimes, the prototypes are used to form patterns for manufacturing and casting.
Recently, RapidPro produced the pattern required to make a series of trophies designed by Deep Orange Design. The trophies were designed for the OPTUS ONE80 PROJECT, a national competition inviting anyone to submit a 180 second pilot.
RapidPro manufactured plaster or epoxy patterns that were specifically hand-finished. The finished trophy was then made from coloured polyester resin cast in a silicone mould. The trophy was a series of parts that were slotted together to create a complex effect of intertwining ribbons.
