Radio Terminal Systems (RTS) has released that Versacold, one of the large providers of cold store warehousing services globally, has selected RTS to provide core ruggedised products and wireless LAN implementation services for their warehouse in Laverton North, Victoria.
Versacold’s Victorian warehouse operation has a capacity of some 330,000 cubic metres (11.7 million cubic feet), providing -300 Celsius freezer storage. The company also operates distribution and refrigerated transport services. Versacold primarily services the supply chain requirements for large supermarket outlets. For such a large operation, it is imperative that stock is meticulously picked, delivered and tracked in the warehouse.
After extensively researching the market for products to enhance productivity, and then evaluating and testing these products for a further 12 months, Versacold selected RTS vehicle-mounted terminals as a solution to update their aging RF equipment.
Versacold was impressed with the real-time products from RTS, which can operate in extreme temperature conditions (-200 to -300 Celsius), enabling Versacold to accurately manage operational activities within their warehouse.
The solutions were truly freezer-graded and ruggedised, which is what we need in Versacold’s warehouse. Versacold also wanted a partner that had done extensive work in the cold store industry, which RTS had.
The fully integrated RTS Picker 5 rugged mobile computer terminals, and complementing RTS Rugged Scanner 4, are designed to withstand temperatures down to -300 Celsius without ancillary heaters and power supplies.
According to RTS, its business has grown consistently over the last ten years, as they invested the time to partner with its clients and tailor solutions and services to streamline their business operations, ultimately lowering the operational costs for warehousing environments.
RTS will provide ongoing services and maintenance to Versacold over the next ten years, including preventative maintenance and upgrades to the equipment to ensure Versacold gets return on their investment.
