After two years of extensive research and development, RTS has released Rugged Scanner Generation 5 (G5) product, with significant enhancements over the Rugged Scanner 4 product.
The Rugged Scanner is one of the products within the G5 terminal range. RTS has incorporated new leading edge designs and functionality to its range of vehicle mount and handheld terminals.
All RTS G5 products will be formally launched in April 2007.
Key features of the Rugged Scanner G5 include double the scanning range of the previous model; improved cold storage functionality and an upgraded fuzzy logic version.
The all new heater and demisting system enables continuous operation in a freezer environment. The fuzzy logic version performs exceptionally well at reading barcodes through shrink-wrap, even where the shrink-wrap might be sitting above the label.
According to RTS, it continuously developed, tested and trialled various technologies to incorporate into the product. RTS now has a product that performs way beyond its planned expectations.
This has been made possible through advances in laser technology and extensive testing in a real environment.
Other features include improved durability, making it arguably the tough handheld barcode scanner available on the market. Additionally, the extended range laser scanner outperforms all previous barcode scanners ever made.
Rugged Scanner G5 is currently being sold directly by RTS in Australia, NZ and some parts of Europe. RTS intend to market the product globally and set up some selective distributors in these markets.
