RS Components has launched an upgrade of its eCommerce capabilities in Australia and New Zealand.
According to the company these new capabilities streamline all aspects of ordering, delivery, and customer service to make it easier for engineers across the region.
While many aspects of the online platform haven't changed, it has added four major features, which include an improved quotation tool that enables quotes to be requested online and ready instantly;more flexibility to tailor orders and accounts; easier access to invoices; and improved planning for orders.
RS explained that in regards to planning"customers can now view thirteen months of ordering history even for orders placed through the web, phone or fax. Ordering trends can be analysed and repeat orders set up, as well as scheduling regular orders for situations where a part might be needed every two weeks or monthly".
"Forward ordering is also available,as well as repeat ordering for any full or partial order placed within the past twelve months."
Jeremy Edward, RS Components country manager Australia and New Zealand, said "the new functions on our website make the offering from RS Components unique in our industry, especially in the mainstream maintenance and repair operations".
"The enhanced website allows customers to personalise their relationship with us, and will save them time and money while allowing them to do their jobs faster and more easily".
"eCommerce has grown from about one-third of our business in Australia to over 50 per cent during the past two years," Edward said.
"We offer a multi-channel business model with phone lines open 24x7 and trade counters in major centres, but eCommerce lies at the heart of what we do. We feel that our local presence and network differentiates us from other distributors. We are building our business on eCommerce with a human touch."
He went on to state the new capabilities allow RS to compete faster and better.
"We have 80,000 electronics, maintenance and automation and control products in stock locally, and we can deliver to 93 per cent of Australia within two days for over 90 per cent of orders," Edward said.
"We carry more than 550,000 lines of product internationally, which now can be reached online and delivered to Australia and New Zealand within five working days. We’re really focused on making the world a smaller place."
